On Saturday, February 18th, 2012 the Metro Branch of the EUSPBA will be holding the annual Metro Cup Solo Piping Competition at the Ramada Inn ( formerly the Holiday Inn North) in Newark, NJ starting at 8:00 am. The address is 160A Frontage Rd, Newark, NJ 07114
Once again we will have the Pipe Major George M. Bell amateur grade one contest featuring the top player from each of the six branches of the EUSPBA as well as the top players from, the Midwest Pipe Band Association, the Southern United States Pipe Band Association, The Western United States Pipe Band Association, the Pipers and Pipe Band Society of Ontario in Canada, and the winner of the CLASP competition that was held in Glasgow this past summer.
The Metro Cup was held on February 19th and as we promised it was a full day of the best bagpipers in the land duking it out to win in one of the most lucrative bagping contests in the world. Bruce Gandy an seven time Metro Cup overall winner did it again and made it eight by taking 1st place in the Medley and 4th in the Piobaireachd contest. Stuart Liddell the 2010 Metro Cup champion took 1st place in the Piobaireachd contest.
